Explore the Diversity of African American Art

What is African American art? Let's explore this question together as we feature the paintings of award winning artist James E.St.Clair, aka The Artist Saint. The broad range of images, themes and styles represented by Saint’s work will enable us to expand our image of what African American art is. More specifically we will discuss and view art in the following catagories: Black religious art and Spirituality, including Black Angel art and Black Jesus art; culture and history; Black folk art; and Nature. Finally we will visit guest artists who will fill in the gaps and add their own vision as we define this genre of art.

We are here to guide you into this diverse world of what is commonly called African American art or Black art. In an ideal world no such sub-catagory of art would be necessary, but in the real world we must tell our own story in order to be seen and heard. If you look in most art galleries or read most art magazines you might conclude that there are no Black artists of any consequence. We will present visual evidence to the contrary and have some fun doing it. Our goal is to present a conscious, powerful, and positive view of life, culture, and history in our community as we discuss collecting art, general developments in the art world, and offer to our visitors “world class art at affordable prices”.
